Dealer's Tales | Stagnant Career

Other than the stress that comes form fear of making mistakes, a stagnant career growth adds on to Genting's dealers blues. As a dealer in Genting, if you do not get promoted your salary will be stagnant forever. There is no annual pay increment. Here is the account form an ex-dealer.

Basic
Croupier: RM1315(firm no matter how long you worked)
Supervisor: around RM2000(minimum 2 years experience as croupier with the knowledge of at least 3 main games)
Assistant Manager(AM): around RM5000(5 years experience if not mistaken)
Manager: Not sure.... (Some had been on the job for 20 years could not attain this post)

If you are degree holder in management, you can join Genting's casino operations
For the first month you will be croupier
In the 2nd month you move on to supervisor
by the 3rd month you get to be AM unless your probation is extended.

Gosh, dealers in Genting are over paid. Base on the cost of living in 2007, RM1300 inclusive meal and lodging is equivalent to RM1800. A fresh graduate can draw this salary working as a bank officer. Fancy that, high school leavers are getting paid fresh graduate's salary.

They are dealing with money and constant error is going to be costly. That is the main reason they are highly paid. Look at the sample payout below and you can appreciate the effort they need to put in. It is also important that they give no indication that they are working out the calculation. They have to do it like a robot that some forum members asked if they punch in some figures to get the answer.

Regarding the roulette pay out, it's manually calculated. Candidates for the post will have to undergo training and pass a small test. It is all mental calculation where you are not allowed to whisper it out or use hand.

For example. A customer strike 3 chips on single bet, 4 chips on split bet and 4 chips on square bet. The croupier will usually work it out this this way
3 x (35 + 17 + 8) = 180 chips
1 x (17 + 8) = 25 chips
Total payment = 205 chips
They will use the amount of chips as payment instead of the amount of money as payment.

Guess what? Imagine if a dealer is caught doing the calculation mentioned using fingers to count. It will be close to a mini riot. Punters will be telling them the calculations harshly and scolding them for being slow. This may pressure them. They can end up working out the wrong math.

I could just recall the times when I did joint attack with Unker LDC. If we made a good hit the dealer will be faced with these complicated calculations. I had to use fingers and toes to calculate the winning. Before I am done calculating, they had already dispensed the payout. Damn, they are good! Sometime I see them stacking and re staking the chips. Now I know the reason. They are doing their counting with the chips instead of using fingers.
